Our Strategy

Our Story.

The Grand was set-up in 2001 as a multi-partner agency working across the borough.

Since then we have established a successful youth service, helped hundreds of people get online and learn how to use the internet, assisted people in their search for a new job and helped people lose weight and quit smoking.

Partnerships and community

We work with every secondary school in the borough, manage community events, run a community allotment and have produced an annual youth performance at the Woodville theatre for the past 10 years.

Our work and objectives change as local needs change and funding is available, but we constantly strive to assist residents with their physical, emotional and mental health, both here at the Grand or by referring people to partner or local organisations who are best placed to help.

We work with all kinds of organisations from funding and commissioning partners to community groups, to run programmes and events.

Our public health programmes are largely funded by Kent County Council's Public Health Department, but we are also funded by other organisations.

During the past decade we have worked with major funding bodies and charities such as Comic Relief and local organisations including Gravesham Borough Council.

Currently we are working with Involve Kent, 5Rights Foundation, Kent County Council and One You Kent.

Core to our work here is the youth service Gifted Young Generation (GYG).

GYG offers free opportunities and services to young people who live or go to school in the borough. From creative workshops to mental health counselling and a job-search support service.

Our building is open to the public every Monday to Friday.

Many of our youth workshops and services run after school on weekdays.

Where we work

We work across Gravesham. Our base is at the Gravesend Methodist Church in Wilfred Street and many of our services are based here.

But we also run our workshops and classes in different spaces and locations in the local area.

Our exercise classes take place at the Gravesend Methodist Church in Wilfred Street, while our tech classes take place here at the Grand.

In summer months we run sessions outside in the parks and outdoor gyms.

Our GYG youth workshops and youth clubs take place at:

Methodist Church, Higham Memorial Hall, Higham and Cobham.

We are involved in different pop-up events in the borough, from Fort Gardens to The Enchanted Garden in Northfleet.
