Vacancy: Company Secretary
Voluntary, career development role
This is an exciting time to join The Gravesham Network Community Development CIC (The Grand) as we set out our new strategy for the next 5 years retaining focus on delivering Health & Wellbeing support and Youth services.
The energy, enthusiasm, commitment and experience of our Board Members and staff help us transform lives. We have recently received significant accolade for our work, and we are keen to continue this trajectory.
We are therefore seeking to appoint a committed individual from the local community, who has the appropriate knowledge, experience and skills, for the role of Company Secretary
The main duties of this role are set out in the job description (attached) but include:
- Maintaining the company’s statutory books and records
- Filing annual returns at Companies House
- Arranging and administering meetings of the Directors, including preparing agendas and minutes and associated meeting documents
- Overseeing the finances of the organisation (management of the day-to-day finance & administration is undertaken by the staff team), ensuring it is solvent and well run
- Ensuring the organisation’s governing documents and relevant legislation are complied with
- Assisting with the setting of the overall strategy and policy objectives
Board Members come from all walks of life and backgrounds, but the commonality they have is wanting to progress the operation of a sound community interest company which delivers local services, for local people within Health & Wellbeing and Youth Services.
Over the next 2 years, we need to undertake a full review of our funding opportunities, looking to attract longer-term funding that secures our service delivery for the duration of our strategy and beyond.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in the following areas:
- Company Secretary for similar organisations
- Funding and fundraising
- Business development – particularly in the CIC or Charity sector
We are committed to improving equality and diversity on our Board and applications are therefore encouraged from under-represented groups including Women and people from a Black and Minority Ethnic background.
