Football Tournament 2015
On Thursday 6th August 2015, the Grand and Kent FA held a 7 a side football tournament at Northfleet Youth Centre to raise awareness of Mental Health in young people. We incorporated football futures for young people interested in developing their football knowledge and career also “swearing lets tackle it” to ensure respect and good conduct was enforced throughout the tournament. The day was a success with 5 teams across Gravesham competing for the trophy: Kings Youth (Kings Farm), Live Strong (Vigo, Harvel & Istead Rise), Yolo Toure (Northfleet and surrounding areas), Class on Grass (Meopham) and All Stars (Gravesend and the town area).
The 1st game kicked off with Live Strong (Yellow) vs Class On Grass (Green), a good game that ended with Live Strong winning 3-1 with Eddie getting man of the match for a great performance.
The 2nd game was great game to watch with All Stars (Black) vs Kings Youth (Black & Pink) ending with All Stars winning 4-0 with man of the match going to Victor for a key instrumental performance for the All Stars.
The 3rd game of the tournament featured Yolo Toure (Red) playing Live strong (Yellow) ending in Yolo Toure winning 1-0 with a fabulous strike to win the game by Joe Thornhill earning him man of the match.
The 4th game featured The All Stars (black) taking on Class On Grass (green) ending in the all stars winning 6-1 however a star performance from Elliott Holmes earned him a brave man of the match.
5 games in saw Class on grass (green) take on Kings Youth (black) which was a great game to watch finishing 5-3 to kings youth however a stand out hatrick hero Eddy earned man of the match.
Running into the 6th match, Yolo Toure (red) vs All Stars (black), great game, great football, All Stars ran out 3-0 winners thanks to Rael making some world class saves to earn man of the match.
7th game had All Stars (black) line up against Live Strong (yellow), with the All stars running out 5-1 winners with man of the match going to Junior Ola for a great performance and hatrick well done.

This is how the table looked after 10 games resulting in the two top teams playing against each other in the final.
Here are the finalists lined up for the final pre-game picture All Stars (black) vs Yolo Toure (red) with Henry Wiggins in the middle, match official and tournament organiser.
This was hands down one of the best games of football I have seen from start to finish.
Picture: Raymond Thompson taking a corner in the 1st half for Yolo Toure.
The corner led to a hand ball which led to a penalty awarded to Yolo Toure.
Picture: Menu Seid scoring the penalty to make it 1-0.
Junior then went on to equalise just before half time. The second half started and half way through Joe Thornhill produced a quality finish to put his team up 2-1.
The game went on to be tight cagey affair and went right to the wire. With a minute left on the clock the ball fell to Dan near the half way line he struck the ball with power and pace and it pummelled into the bottom corner to make it 2-2.
Extra time began and both teams gave their all, but time ran out and like last year the final went on to a penalty shootout. Both teams deserved the trophy but only one could prevail, tournament favourites All Stars won the coin toss and elected to take the 2nd penalty. With 2 missed by each teams we went right to 10-10. Menu Seid stepped up and scored, then All stars penalty was saved by Bret Hill. 11- 10 on penalties meant that the 2015 champions are Yolo Toure.
Man of the match went to Dan in the game who played fantastically throughout, although All Stars didn’t win the game, he played brilliant.
