West Ham Trip
As part of our on-going football project here at the Grand, we received funding to take a group of young people on a professional footballing trip. The day consisted of a West Ham academy foundation training session for the young people and then to watch the London Derby West Ham vs Crystal Palace.
The group we took learnt new football skills and techniques to help them improve their ability from west ham’s academy coach. All of them participated really well and we saw some great goals and football played.
The young people developed their team building skills and improved as the day went on, it was good to see different young people communicating well and getting along, I feel that this trip was a real benefit for the young people looking to improve their team building skills and footballing ability.
It also gave them a good understanding of what it is like playing and training professionally as some of the young people that went on the trip aspire to become footballers.
The day started by getting a coach up to the West Ham foundation training complex where the young people then went on to participate in a training session, skill games and then a match. They were under the instruction of a professional football coach learning key skills and techniques.
